Gas fees, and how to keep them low
Ethereum charges a network fee, called gas, paid in ETH, that compensates validators for processing your transaction. If you want it cheaper still, the upgrades since the Merge, and the 2024 Dencun release in particular, made layer-2 networks like Arbitrum, Optimism and Base extremely cheap, settling the same payment for only a few cents.
